Simple Blessings is the title of our Christmas celebrations this year. We will focus on those simple blessings that sometimes we may overlook. Each week, we will look at not only what Christmas brought to us, but also what Christmas brings us. So, as we look ahead, let’s not think that it is too early for Christmas; let’s sing His praises as we contemplate all that Christmas brought and brings and how we are blessed.
This year our children will be presenting a special program entitled Christmas Science on Sunday, December 9th during our 10:20 am worship service. They will be practicing during youth group times beginning on Sunday, September 30th. They will also be practicing, beginning in October, during our Sunday morning Kids Worship. Corinna Wagner will be leading this program.
We will again present our annual live nativity at the Neese barn in rural Thorntown on Sunday, December 16th at 6:00 pm and again at 7:30 pm, entitled, A Busy Night! This will be the traditional story of Jesus’ birth told in a not-so-traditional way. We will need volunteers for both speaking and non-speaking parts, as well as volunteers to help with parking and refreshments. We will be enlisting volunteers in October. We also need volunteers to help with set design and construction; so see Steve if you’d like to help.
Our annual Christmas Eve service will be at 9:00 pm on Monday, December 24th. We will be focusing on our most precious blessing, God’s grace that came that night through that baby. We will gather and give thanks in praise and remember not only his birth, but his life, his death, burial and resurrection through communion. Christmas is also a time to give. We have two opportunities to give to those who are in need. First, we will again host the Operation Shoe Box through Samaritans’ Purse beginning in October and our own Angel Tree to help local families in November.
