We hope to be able to have our Easter events but with the COVID-19 our church office and all events are being canceled or postponed. Please watch for updates on events and join us on Facebook Live on Sunday mornings at 10:20 am.
Palm Sunday Celebration - On Sunday, April 5th, our children and youth will be presenting the story of Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem during our 10:20 am worship service. We commemorate this date as the beginning of the story of Easter because it is a day of celebration. Jesus entered Jerusalem to the shouts of hosanna from the crowds gathered along the road. They were praising God and waving Palm branches as a sign of honor to Jesus. This was Sunday and by the following Friday, things changed. This all happened to fulfill prophecy and God’s plan.
Last Supper Communion- We will offer a special time of communion on Thursday, April 9th, to remember the Last Supper of Jesus and his institution of communion. It was at that meal as He gathered with His disciples, that he took a loaf of bread and broke it saying, “This is my body which is broken for you. Take and eat.” He then passed the bread and they ate it. Jesus then took a cup of wine in his hand and said, “This is my blood, that is poured out for you. Take and drink.” The cup was passed and they drank. Little did they know what these symbols would mean in the next hours as He was arrested, beaten and then crucified. Today, we still partake and remember the Lord’s death each Lord’s Day just as He asked. This special time of communion will be offered from 4:00pm to 9:00 pm. The Lord’s Table will be spread. We invite you to come when you can and pause and remember individually, as a family, and as the church of Christ and then partake and rejoice for what price Jesus paid for our salvation for you, for me, for all.
Procession of The Cross- After Jesus was arrested, tried and beaten, He was sentenced to death by crucifixion by Pilate. Because the time of the Passover Sabbath was approaching, Jesus was quickly led to Calvary where He would be hung on a cross. At first, they strapped a wooden section of the cross to Jesus’ back and forced him to carry it through the streets of Jerusalem called the Via Dolorosa, which means the Way of the Cross. Along the way, Jesus falls under the weight of the cross and a bystander in the crowd is ordered to carry it for Him. Once at the place of Golgotha, Jesus was nailed to the cross and lifted up to be crucified . On Friday, April 10th, we will follow the cross of Christ through the streets of Advance beginning at 7:00 pm. We will meet at the Advance Utility Building on South St. and make our way through town ending at the church. This is not only a personal remembrance but a public witness to our community of what happened on that first Good Friday.
Easter Son-Rise Service & Breakfast- On Easter Sunday, April 12th, we will gather at 7:00 am for a special earlier morning celebrating the most powerful act of God to date – The Resurrection of Jesus. We gather early in the morning to remember that first Easter morning when the women went to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body with herbs, but found the tomb empty. This service will be followed by our annual Easter Breakfast around 7:45 am. Please join us to remember
Easter Resurrection Celebration Service - On Easter Sunday, April 12th, we will join together at 9:20 am for our Easter Celebration Service. We will have special music, drama and praise and worship in celebration of the most exciting day ever – the day our salvation came through Jesus’ Resurrection.
