Looking Ahead May 13th at 8:45 am Mother’s Day Breakfast On Sunday, May 13th we will be celebrating God’s gift of our mothers with a special breakfast and program presented by our children. We will begin at 8:45 am with a “Mom and Me” Breakfast for all moms and their children of any ages (even adults). We will also be having a special Sunday School lesson for children and their mothers immediately following the breakfast at 9:30 am. All other adult Sunday School classes will meet as usual at 9:20 am.
We are asking the men of the church to help cook this breakfast. Please watch for signups.
May 13th at 10:20 am Mother’s Day Service During our morning worship service at 10:20 am, our children will also be honoring their mothers with a special program. We will be practicing with the children for this program during our Sunday night Youth Groups and Sundays in Children’s Worship on the Sunday’s leading up to Mother’s Day.
May 19th- 4:00 pm Youth Camp Out On Saturday, May 19th, we will be hosting an All Youth Group/Family Campout at Beck’s Pond west of Advance beginning at 4:00 pm. All children 1st grade and under must be accompanied by an adult. We will have a cookout supper of hotdogs and brats and ask each child/family to bring a picnic food and snacks to share. We will spend the evening relaxing and with fun activities for all ages. We will gather around a campfire for fun songs and worship and end the night with s’mores. We will be providing tents for the kids and their chaperons. We do ask that families (other than chaperons) who have their own tents or campers to bring them. If you do not have a tent and would like to attend, please contact us and we will try to borrow what we need. If you have a tent you’d like to loan us, please contact us. Then early Sunday morning we will provide clean up stations and breakfast and have Sunday School lessons around the campfire. We will then join in worship at the church at our outdoor service on that day. If you have any questions, please contact the church.
May 20th Out Door Service and Grill Off Contest On Sunday, May 20th, we will be hosting the first outdoor worship service of the summer under our pavilion, if weather permits. We will have Sunday School indoors as usual and then gather outside at 10:20 am for this service. We will provide seating, but do encourage you to bring lawn chairs for your comfort.
Immediately following our services, we will have an all-church fellowship and Grill Off contest. We will provide hot dogs and hamburgers for everyone. We ask each family to bring a picnic side dish and dessert to share. We will also be having a Grill Off contest for everyone to participate. Participates will need to bring their own grills and enough for 50 sample portions of any meat (tamed or wild), vegetables, fruit, or combination thereof, to be cooked on site and entered into the contest. There will be a sign-up sheet with suggestions and space to go on your own. We are looking for the classic favorites, Barbequed or not, and the exotic. Let your imagination and taste buds be your guide. We will be giving a Peoples’ Choice Award. This is sure to be a great event!
Ark Encounter Trip
In conjunction with our Noah Live VBS, we will be hosting a trip to The Ark Encounter in Kentucky for all interested on Saturday, June 30th. The Ark Encounter is a life-sized recreation of Noah’s Ark with interactive exhibits. We have made reservations with the following discounted group pricing: Senior Citizens $37.00 (60+); Adults $38.00; Youth over 12 years of age $25; Children ages 4 to 12 $18 Children under 4 are free. Scholarships are available, please contact Steve. This is for everyone - adults and children alike, but children under 3rd grade must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We will be providing rides and caravanning there for those who wish to go as a group. Otherwise you and your family may meet us there at 12 noon to enter the encounter. We will be taking a sack lunch and eating before we enter the Ark and then make a fast-food stop on the way home. If you have any questions about this trip, see Steve. Sign up beginning in May.

June 15th 8:45 Dad & Me Fishing Rodeo To celebrate Father’s Day, a special fishing rodeo is being planned for Friday, June 15th at 5:30 pm at Beck’s Pond west of Advance. We will offer a picnic for all dads and their children of all ages, including adults beginning at 5:30 pm. The fishing contest will begin at 6:00 pm and continue to 8:00 pm. We will award prizes for the biggest fish, the smallest fish, the most fish, and the Fisherman of the Year. This is sure to be a great time. We will also be providing fishing equipment to those who may need it; so, if you have some that we could borrow, please see Steve. More details will come in the summer newsletter. June 24th Fish Fry Fellowship Mark your calendars now for Sunday, June 24th for our all church Fellowship Fish Fry at 5:00 pm under our pavilion. This will also be our kick-off for Vacation Bible School for everyone. This was a great time of food and fellowship last year, so you don’t want to miss out. Mark your calendars and be watching for sign ups in early June.
