Mission INDY – We had a total of 14 individuals volunteer at our Mission INDY project on 10/17. Mission INDY is a Christian mission organization that facilitates service projects throughout the Indianapolis metropolitan area. This organization exists to equip God’s people to do God’s work in the inner city.
Our project was working with Parkside Christian Church in Haughville, just west of White River just off of West Washington Street. This church of around 70 people has a long history in their community, but has struggled with aging facilities and an ever-changing community. Our project was to help them clean out a church-owned home that had been vacated. This home will be converted to a church-sponsored college ministry reaching out to IUPUI students. This home will provide a meetinghouse and residential quarters for students. We also worked preparing the site for a new concrete sidewalk, and cleaned up the yard around the church and the home. We had 5 Jr. High youth and 9 adults who worked hard and completed more than was expected. They truly went above and beyond for God’s Glory.
The Mission INDY Organization also hosts week-long opportunities as well as one- day opportunities for these types of services projects. It is our hope to send a team next summer on one of these week-long events. These events are geared for Jr. and Sr. High Students and adult chaperons will be needed. Be looking for more information early next year as we make plans. Thanks to all who went and to our church for sponsoring our team. Great job!
